Featured Author

My name is Jonathan and I love food, plain and simple.  For a great majority of my life, I did not know how to cook anything.  When Food Network started getting really popular, I took notice and started watching whatever shows interested me at the time.  I found Good Eats, and that show perfectly correlates to how I like to learn.  So from then on I was a fan, and subsequently, Alton Brown taught me everything I needed to know about cooking.

I live just outside of Orlando, Florida with my beautiful wife Lindsey and all of our quadruped children.  We’ve got two dogs (Leo and Lucy) and our cats (Tuscany and Zelda.)

The one thing that ties all my activities together is food.  I am constantly thinking about it, and you will notice this if you spend any time whatsoever reading my posts.  I consider myself semi-adventurous when it comes to trying something new, and I use that to my advantage when I can.  Furthermore, I consider myself a hamburger connoisseur and I have strong feelings and thoughts about burgers, as I’m sure you’ve seen or heard.  Recently, I decided to actually follow my passion and  I enrolled for classes at Le Cordon Bleu in Orlando.  I started In January 2011 for the 21-month Associate in Arts program in culinary arts.  Among other topics, I will be using this blog as an information spot about the school and what I happen to be going through at any given moment.

I love cooking in general, but I LOVE grilling.  I have some strong feelings about grilling, and those will be covered in the future, along with my (totally awesome) equipment.  Other than burgers, probably my favorite thing to cook is pork.  It is generally my go-to meat of choice, and I happen to have perfected the rub I put on it to make it so amazing.  Oddly enough, the more thinking I have to do while cooking or preparing, the more I enjoy it; yes, my brain really does work in strange and mystical ways.

And being the geek that I am, I love gadgets.  I love using technology in the kitchen when I can, and I often get super excited if I find a new awesome gadget that I can buy and test.

    What the Joma????????????My mouth is watering for that pork dish…….YUMMMMMM…….and the stuffed shrooms?? Mmmmm- guess I like food as much as you…..

      hey jon- listen, i really enjoy seeing your vlog and put in a request to see a pork or chicken on the rotisserie. I do pretty well with the chicken, but joe and i just can’t get the pork ‘straight’ for whatever reason…maybe we drink too much beforehand and dont pay attention (heehee)…i make great pork in the oven, but LOVE the rostisserie….oh yea, and I want to see how Lindsey makes those FAB baked potatoes in the oven! Ok so for now, it’s the chicken and pork……YUM- Glad you’re enjoying school and you can share your techniques with us 🙂 tootles for now…

    Somebody spends TOO much time stareing at their grill!!! Just kidding…….Your writing/ Culinary talents would be better used in a Free Lance Newspaper status with Orlando’s paper!!I must say, that the combination of your insight, along with the quality photos are AWESOME!!
